Easter mini album - Scrapping Fun Kits

Hi Scrappers,

I am sharing a little Easter project with you. I wanted to do something a little different to document Easter this year, so I decided to make a mini album and this months Scrapping a fun kit was perfect to embellish this little mini.

I made the mini album from scratch (you can see my process video here).  I used this cute bunny paper from the kit to cover the outside, then added my title (both from my stash and the kit)

For the inside pages I used some light green card-stock to create the pages, flaps and pockets. I lined the inside covers with another piece of paper from the kit, then finished off the first 2 pages with some cut apart pieces.

The middle pages I made a lift up flap and a little pocket. I used a cut apart piece to fit in the pocket for some journaling and a photo.  Embellishments from the kit and also from my stash, love the pink puffy bunny sticker!

For the back page I added these cute bunny train stickers to the bottom of the page and added another title.  Again finishing off the inside back cover with the easter egg paper.

X-Press It Creator Project ~ Birthday Decoration ~ ONE!

Hi Scrappers,

Morgyn here sharing my latest crafty project with you.  My little man is turning one in a few weeks so I thought I should get a crack on making some decorations for his party.  As soon as I saw the gold leaf in my X-Press It creator box I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

I got all my supplies ready (I will lave a supply list at the bottom).  I used Word to make the word ONE in really large letters, each letter was  about 65%  of an A4 page.  I printed them, then cut out each shape to use as my templates.  Next step was to cut the templates from cardboard (I used some old packaging, cereal boxes etc).

Once I had those cut out I also cut some strips of cardboard at 1.5 inches in width, I scored each side at 1cm to create two folds in each strip.  These were going to form the sides of my letters.  I attached some X-Press It high tack double sided tape to each edge of the strips.

Now came the tricky part, attaching the side to the letter front/back.  I snipped little cuts in the parts that were going to form the corners and rounded parts of the O, these gave the cardboard some more flexibility to bend around.  I stuck down all of the edges to the back of the letter before sticking the top part on (this worked out the easiest way).

Once each of my letters were made I applied a layer of Gesso to the whole thing. 1. to cover up an blemishes/printing on the cardboard and 2. to give the paint/glue something to stick to.

Once the Gesso was fully dry (I may have used my heat gun to speed it up a little) I got out my paints and brushes (from my X-Press It creator kit - they are really nice brushes to use). I mixed together some teal, blue and white paint to make a colour to match some other decorations I am using. Then I masked off parts of the letter and painted them teal, re-masked and painted a black strip as well.

Now the fun really begins!  Adding the gold foil, now I'll be honest this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but after a few test pieces and a fair bit of mess I got into a bit of a rythem and by the 3rd letter it was going on (almost) perfectly.

The finished result!

I really love how these came together, the hardest part was all the cutting at folding in the beginning.  But it was totally worth it to have this neat handmade sign for his 1st birthday.

Art Journal Process ~ Mixed Media Page ~ Don’t hide the madness

Hi Scrappers,

Just sharing my latest art journal page, completed in my Strathmore mixed media journal.  This was a really fun page to create I love the Dylusions stamps and must order some more!

I used gesso and Dylusions sprays for my background.  Then added a few strips of Jane Davenport tissue paper along with some green muslin I had laying around in my stash.

Next up I used an old Amy Tangerine stencil with texture paste and a few squirts of  Dylusions spray.I also stamped my lady image on some watercolour paper with Stazon ink and coloured with watercolour markers - love the bright colours of this one.

For the final part of my page I used my Stampin’ Up! GIANT letter roller stamp to stamp out my phrase.  I then used some assorted tiny letter stickers to spell out ‘madness’ to finish off the sentence.

Please see below for a full list of products used (links of where to buy, where available).

Scrapping Fun Kits ~ Travellers Notebook ~ Colour Fun Run

Hi Scrappers, Morgyn here sharing my latest layout using the Summer Travellers Notebook kit (and some of the promo kit Raelene had given me) from Scrapping Fun Kits.

I love how perfect this photo is to use with the Summer kit.  Sam had a colour fun run at his school late last year and this was the after photo.  He was given the pair of yellow sunglasses he is wearing, how wonderful is the sunglass paper and sticker to match?

For the left hand side of the spread I used a paper from my promo kit as the pink matched the splatter on the other side.  I used the blue boarder strip down the middle and a piece of the pink/yellow washi tape.  I mounted my photo on a yellow embellishment piece and used the rainbow letters for my title.

On the right side of the layout I used the sunglasses paper for my background, then I cut out the pink 'summer splash' from an embellishment card.  Together with the sunglasses sticker they made a neat embellishment cluster.  For my journalling spot I trimmed down a journal card and used a green boarder sticker to make another little cluster.

This page came together so quickly and easily (it helps that all the kit pieces coordinate together.

Hi scrappers,

I just wanted to quickly share with you all this new kit club.  It's is by Colour Blast and is a great little mixed media kit.  This is the first month of their bi-monthly kits.

As an early bird subscriber I scored these extra goodies on top on my monthly kit;
Heavy Gesso in white and black and a colour shimmer cube in Apple of my eye.

Now on to the main kit

Each kit we get a couple of Colour Blast products along with lots of other goodies to create with.
This month we got a colour spray in Deep Water and a colour paste in Safron.

How cool are these exclusive die cut pieces?!

We also get some other neat mixed media products which will be perfect stash builders.
Stitched circle stamp set, black bling form Uniquely Creative and a Kaisercraft Script stamp.

To add a bit of dimension there is this neat lace/fabric which reminds me of a loofa.  Some card bases (they even have a monthly card competition and sketches in the booklet) + a sheet of printed tissue.

I adore these 2 pieces; Cross stitched nested banner dies and Colour Blast stencil.

Assorted 12x12 paper and cardstock;
Kaisercraft cardstock in Liquorice, coconut, weave, sea foam, cheddar and flamingo
7 Dots Studio papers from the 'Paint Chips' range.

I can't wait to get started with my kit goodies and create some lovely art journal pages, be sure to follow my YouTube channel and of course here on the blog to see what I create.

Travellers Notebook ~ Baby's 1st month

Hi Scrappers,

I am here to share the next part in my travellers notebook series, documenting the first year of each of my boys.  This is their 1 month photos and info.

For this one I used some Kaisercraft pattern paper as my background piece, I trimmed it down to size then cut it in half to fit on each side of the spread.

I matted my photos on a piece of embossed vellum, it has these wonderful little gold dots all over it.  Then I made a little embellishment cluster in the bottom and top corners of the page.

I used this 'A LITTLE NOTE' stamp which was from Blinks of Life for my journalling spots, adding in a little info about each boy at 1 month old.

Lastly I added the BABY title which I had cut from the Crate Paper 'Little Your' collection.

I would love for you to come over and check out my process video for this layout,
you can find it here.  Check below for a list of products used.

Valentines Tag mini album Process video ~ Aussie YouTube Hop ~ Summer Love

Hi Hoppers,

If you have come here from the YouTube, welcome!  If not go and check out our current hop here.

For this month our theme was Summer Love, so we could choose either a love/Valentines or Summer.  I chose to make a Valentines tag book for my husband, we don't usually celebrate Valentines day but I thought this would be a nice little surprise gift for him.

For the covers of the album I cut out 2 circles using my Big Shot and a large circle die (I will list all the products I used below).  I embossed the front piece with a rose embossing folder and used some Twinkling H20's Shimmering watercolours and Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Pots.

These are 3 of the tags inside and my back cover.  Please check out my Process video to see how I have put each of these together.

This is my favourite tag in the book, I just love how the watercolour background came out and the dotty embossing folder stand out so well.

Head over and check out our current YouTube hop, we are having so much fun putting these together for you a few times a year.  This months sponsor is Scrapping Fun kits, who is giving away one of their monthly embellishment kits, as always we appreciate it if you so your love for our sponsor by checking out their website and facebook page.
